Here are nine questions you can ask yourself, your colleagues and your customers to quickly and dramatically improve your marketing:
Questions to ask yourself:
1. Do I understand the emotional impact of my product or service on customers?
2. Am I communicating this emotional impact in my messaging?
3. How can I simplify my messaging, and then, how can I simplify it even further?
Questions to ask colleagues at your firm (engineers and marketers alike):
1. Who is our customer, precisely?
2. How are we improving their lives?
3. Do we understand how our customers think about, talk about, and use our products? Do we know what they want from us?
Questions to ask your customers:
1. How does our product or service improve your life?
2. When you tell your family or friends about our device (or service), what do you say?
3. What should we say about our product or service that will resonate with your peer group?
The point, of course, is to integrate the answers into your marketing as quickly as possible.
