With the new year upon us, many people are swimming in resolutions.
Whether you have professional or personal promises to implement, this post will help you.
Consider the power of 15 minutes per day.
It’s one of the most effective concepts and behaviors for change that I know.
You can change yourself, your work and your company in 15 minutes per day.
Which means you can sure as heck change your marketing, language, branding and positioning in that time period as well.
How does it work? One small success at a time.
For example, say you’ve resolved to exercise.
Get on a treadmill, or do jumping jacks (it doesn’t matter), for 15 minutes today. Just 15. And then stop.
Tomorrow do it again. Walk. Do sit-ups. I don’t care. But move. For 15 minutes. Then stop.
Another example: you’ve resolved to be a better salesperson this year.
Today. This morning. Pick up the phone and call a buyer of yours. Talk to her, and build your relationship. When you’re done, send them something of value. Tomorrow, call another customer. But don’t spend more than 15 minutes per day early on.
The magic of 15 minutes per day is that it’s the perfect time-frame for building new habits and behaviors.
It’s not threatening. It’s easy to get through. It’s difficult to procrastinate and avoid. It’s only 15 minutes! You can do anything that’s important to you, no matter how undesirable, for just 15 minutes. So, do it!
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably spent time thinking about what’s important to you over the holidays. You’ve probably laid out what you need to do. New goals. New ideas. New behaviors. But you probably haven’t thought about how you will go about implementing and executing them.
Start with 15 minutes per day.
Soon enough, you’ll notice the behavior becoming easier, more natural, more enjoyable. You’ll do it for 10 minutes, or 45 minutes, because the time will no longer matter.
But start with 15 minutes.
You can do a lot in 15 minutes per day.
You can change the world in 15 minutes per day.
