Take a closer at the results Apple released this week. They’re very significant:

  • Mac computers sold: 3.89 million
  • iPhones sold: 14.1 million
  • iPads sold? 4.19 million

Which means Apple non-computers outsold Apple computers by nearly fivefold.

Almost five times as many iPhones and iPads as Mac computers!

And this is the company leading the charge in consumer non-computing.

Think about what this means if you work at H-P. At IBM.

If you’re work at or with Microsoft, and you’re reading this, is your company in position to capitalize on this consumer movement to non-computing.

Don’t tell me that smart phones and tablets aren’t cannibalizing PC sales. Without a doubt, they are.

Dear PC and software makers: if you are not scrambling at this very moment to figure out how to leverage this consumer PC exodus, five years from now you may find yourself wondering when it all started to fall apart.

Right now. At this very moment.
