I’m a big football fan, and a recent Chicago Tribune article on my Bears (of all things!) focused on how many on the team are playing on one-year contracts. They have to play like there’s no tomorrow, because if they don’t convince somebody to sign a check, they don’t get to keep playing football.

We’re very much in the same boat, aren’t we? We must convince consumers every day to sign a check for our products. Like the players fighting for their postitions, we are fighting for consumer awareness. A backup will take a football player’s job if he’s not working hard, just like competition will pass you by if you aren’t constantly perfecting your marketing, language, message and platforms. These one-year players are working like there’s no tomorrow.
