Two points on Social Media this week:
1. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what kinds of companies social media works best for. It seems to me that the younger and smaller a business or category is, the more effective social media can be. But the longer a product or category has been on the market, the less energy and social interest there is around it. This is why HDTVs and laptops will have very poor results from social media efforts, but new, niche products and services like cloud apps can generate a lot of social media interest.
2. The complete introduction for my upcoming book, Evangelist Marketing, is available for download on the book’s brand new Facebook page. There’s also a two-minute introductory video there for you to watch. The page is here — become a fan and download the intro as a PDF.
These pieces are called “Minutes” because they will always be short enough to read in about 60 seconds.
My blog features new marketing thinking and ideas, updated multiple times each week.
