Only one consumer electronics company today has consumer evangelists: Apple.
Don’t believe me? Disagree?
Consider the survey just released by Web research firm Comscore. The company talked to over 2,000 Internet users “regarding their awareness, attitudes and opinions of the Apple iPad.” Here’s what was found:
- Exactly half of the people surveyed plan to surf the Internet on their iPad.
- 48 percent will use it for e-mail.
- 38 percent will use it for listening to music.
- 37 percent will use the iPad for reading books.
- 36 percent will watch movies and videos.
- 35 percent will store and view photos.
- 26 percent will download apps from Apple’s app store.
Nice to be Apple, isn’t it? Name another company that has independent research firms running surveys on its features. HP? Panasonic? Sony?
Name another company that has independent research firms unintentionally teaching consumers about what its product can do for them. It’s marketing!
This happens because of the incredibly high interest Apple is able to generate in its products. No company creates higher consumer awareness, or more passionate consumers — more evangelists! — than Apple. This survey is just one example of the countless joys of having evangelists.
