I’m a huge football fan, and the Green Bay Packers, a preseason favorite to go to the Super Bowl, got off to a horrendous start this year. Going into yesterday’s game, they had two wins, three losses, and a nearly unlimited amount of terrible play. Then, yesterday, on national TV and against the undefeated Houston Texans, the Packers put up 42 points and obliterated the opponent. The quarterback, the previously struggling Aaron Rodgers, threw for a whopping six touchdowns.

And so, the transition from failure to raging success can be that quick.

Turning a failing marketing effort into a successful one can be as simple as making a thoughtful adjustment or two.

The distance between losing the customer and winning it can be one more creative effort, one more demonstration of interesting value.

If it isn’t working, leave your desk, clear your mind, get an outside opinion (from a colleague, spouse, or trusted advisor; or talk to a customer, who will reveal valuable insights every time), make adjustments, and creatively reengage.

I think creative re-engagement is the key to resilience, and resilience is the key to success.

And if you don’t believe me, here’s what Thomas Edison — a man who knew something about overcoming failure — had to say on the topic: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

I’ve had a great deal of detail added to the Speaking pages of my Web site. See the overview, speech topics and sample speech clip. Lots of new videos there too. I’ve been booked for seven new speeches in the last month alone. I’d be happy to discuss your event.

Today, the 100+ participants in my Evangelist Marketing Master Class will receive the audio of a powerful, insightful and immediately practical interview I did with Jef Holove, the CEO of Basis.
