Today, I’d like you to pick up the phone and call a customer.
It should be somebody you are doing business with already, somebody who has purchased something from you.
Before you call, identify something else that you provide — product or service — that this customer would find valuable. Perhaps it’s a complimentary offering. Perhaps it has nothing to do with what this customer is currently buying from you, but you have a hunch they’d benefit from it.
When you call, ask the following questions:
“I want to make sure you’re pleased. Is everything going well?”
“Anything we can improve on?”
“You know, I’ve been surprised to find that a lot of people don’t know that we also do / make [this other product or service.]”
“Did you know we did that?”
“Would you like to spend two minutes discussing it now, or should we schedule something for Thursday?”
The “Did You Know” question, if applied consistently and systematically will grow your business by 15 to 20 percent quickly.
You’re thinking about it, but your customers are almost certainly not.
So, help them think about it.
Try this today. And feel free to let me know how it goes.
