I am so grateful to live and work in the United States.
My family left communist Soviet Union in 1978 when I was two years old to chase the American Dream here.
As a result, I’ve spent my life enjoying the freedoms and opportunities our amazing country offers.
It’s a place where we can make a plan and implement it.
It’s a place where success is determined predominantly by how hard we work, and how hard we try again.
In America, if you have those two things — effort and perseverance — you can accomplish and attain everything.
This is so, in large part, because every day, quietly and resolutely, the members of our armed forces do their brave and dangerous work for us.
There are 1.3 million of them on active duty and another 865,000 in reserve. About 2.2 million more are retired.
It’s difficult to get to an exact number, but nearly 3 million have died in battle.
They fight for us. They sacrifice for us.
On this Veterans Day, let us resolve to fight for them, by giving our best effort and by never, ever giving up in our own work.
Let us make them proud.
They deserve this from us.
