Here’s a three-step process that might change your life and work forever:
1. Sit down.
2. Force yourself to have one idea.
3. Share it.
You can have this idea with your morning coffee, or your lunch, or your evening beer, or while you exercise each day.
What do I mean by share it? Blog about it (even if it’s only a paragraph). Tweet it. Tell your team about it. Tell your boss. Tell family. By sharing it you not only help people with your thinking but you demonstrate your value. You build your repute. Your grow your intellectual property exponentially. Do you see any downside here?
This entire process can be accomplished in 30 minutes per day, and if you’re fast, in five to 10 minutes.
So…what’s your idea for today?
My idea: Every time I work with sales people, I’m going to ask, “How are you emotionally connecting with your customer?”
I’m not going to tell them they should connect. Instead, I’m going to ask them for examples of when they did it, and what the result was.
They’ll remember how powerful it is and be more receptive to changing their behavior and systems so they can do more of it.
Full disclosure, I just read Switch by the Heath Brothers, brilliant book about how to get people to change.
Great idea and a very good question Alex.
My idea:
1. Daily and systematically reach out privately to several clients, prospects and previous clients.
2. Share with them one idea (best practice) that has a great potential of helping their business.
3. Suggest a follow-up call to get their feedback and discuss a couple of additional ideas you’d like to share with them.
Best,
Chad
Good stuff, Lisa. And if they haven’t done it yet, or perhaps they aren’t executing emotional sales that well, have a couple examples in your pocket that you can use show them how powerful they can be when following your approach.
Chad: I like it. Value without expectation. Now, what was it that you say about execution?! 🙂
