I was conducting a webinar for Startup America today, titled Killing Commodities: How to Elevate Your Products and Services to Singular Status.
One of the participants asked me this excellent question:
What are the top three marketing techniques for somebody just starting out, with little budget?
The good news is that most of my strategies and techniques cost very little. I will never recommend to clients that they spend millions on television and radio ads, even if they can.
Rather, I’ve learned from experience that good marketing is more about investing effort than investing money.
So then, here are my top 3:
1. Develop powerful, simple, emotional language for your messaging.
2. Build a good, long list of prospective buyers, whether b-to-b, or b-to-c.
3. Communicate your value — and your messaging — to that list relentlessly.
It has worked repeatedly for my clients, and it’s part of how I’ve built a flourishing practice myself.
