Too often, we wait for the perfect time to do something new, or something different.
We delay because we’re too busy. But we will never be less busy. We delay because our staff and colleagues tell us they are too busy. But, really, will they get less busy in the future?
We delay because we’re not completely, 100% ready to implement. But we will never be completely ready.
We delay because we don’t know if the solution is perfect. But is there such a thing?
We wait because we’re uncomfortable with the new work. But all change is this way. In fact, if it feels totally comfortable, it is probably not worth doing, because it’s not interesting enough or impactful enough.
In the meantime, the entire reason we’ve been considering the new action — this reason is otherwise known as the problem — remains. It festers. It’s probably getting worse, because we are not resolving it.
Occasionally we get past all of this, and actually implement the new action. And we see that doing it was actually faster than the time we spent agonizing about it, or avoiding it. And doing the work is almost always psychologically easier than avoiding it.
Stop delaying. The most perfect time to do the work is now. The longer you agonize over it, the more imperfect it all becomes.
Take the action!

Free Half Day Revenue Growth Summit
Big news here! I’m hosting a free half-day Revenue Growth Summit on September 7 in Chicago, and there is no cost! It’s the first one in more than two years. Three solid hours with me in a small group talking in-depth about growing your organization. Would love to have you there.
The last time I did this, we had a standing room only crowd. Seating is limited, so please register early if you wish to attend.
