Here’s a simple but blazingly effective revenue growth technique to implement as the year winds down, and as the new year begins.
Call every prospect you talked to this year who did not buy, and ask them what you can help with before the year ends. “Just checking in before we run out of time in 2016. We didn’t come together the last time we talked, but I was thinking about you: what are you working on that I can help with?”
Then, do the same thing with customers who are buying. “What can I help you with before the year ends?”
Then, repeat the same process in early 2017. “Now that it’s the new year, I just wanted to check in…”
They will be happy to hear from you. Tell them you were thinking about them. It’s impossible to react negatively when somebody tells you they are thinking about you. In fact, all you can be, really, is flattered.
(The key with all of this is that it happens on the telephone, not email. I want these customers and prospects to hear from you.)
The calendar changing is a perfect reason to pick up the phone and call customers and prospects.
And as we know all too well, the calendar keeps changing.
