How many times have you delayed doing something for weeks and months, agonized over it, and then when you finally did it, it took you five or ten minutes and you immediately reaped the benefit?!
We avoid the phone call, putting it off repeatedly, for fear of rejection or failure. Then, when we finally make the call. It’s pleasant, quick, and we get the business.(Or we don’t at that moment, but we demonstrated to the customer that we care enough to try, which will only benefit us in the future.)
Similarly, we procrastinate asking for testimonials and referrals, because we don’t want to inconvenience or intrude on the customer’s time. But when we finally ask, they’re happy to help us.
Many clients tell me no before they agree to work with me (this is how I know the deal is nigh!). Nearly every one of them expresses regret about not getting started sooner, because they literally put off their sales growth by weeks or months. Then we begin, the adjustments are easy, and the sales growth is dramatic and basically immediate.
Just as the referrals you’re avoiding are certain grow your business.
Just as the testimonials you’re delaying asking for will be wonderfully warm and helpful to your business.
Just as only good things happen when you finally pick up the phone and call that customer or prospect.
Stop avoiding the things you should be doing. The mental energy put into delaying and procrastinating is far more time consuming and demanding than the actual work you’re trying to avoid.
And It’s costing you money.
