I was giving a keynote speech in Las Vegas on Friday morning, and an audience member asked, “How much communication is too much? When will customers, prospects, and those on my list get annoyed and complain?”
My answer: If your communication is helpful, and about your customers and prospects rather than about you, there is no too much communication.
It is impossible, for example, to over-communicate all that your customers and prospects can buy from you. Because, on average, they are aware of just 20% of all that you can sell them. It doesn’t matter if two months ago you told a customer about a product they are not currently buying. Today, they do not remember it. Because, like you, they are busy. Being told and conscious awareness are very different.
So tell people about all that you can do for them, and don’t worry about offending. A few may be. But many, many more will pleased to know what else they can buy from you. And many, many more will buy.
