evangelistmktgminSelf-limiting beliefs cannot be edited, adjusted or changed. The only thing you can do with limiting beliefs is to replace them.

For example: “I don’t want to impose on the prospective customer” cannot be changed to “I must call this customer.” That wouldn’t work. The original belief is based in fear, previous experience (baggage), and a lack of confidence. The edited belief is not nearly strong enough to overcome that. Instead, obliterate the self-limiting belief with something like this: “I am among the very best at what I do, and it is my responsibility to help as many people as possible. I must let people know about my value.” See the difference?

As the year winds down, take 15 minutes and think about the beliefs that hold you back. I bet there are two or three big thoughts holding you back from significant growth — personal and business. What are your self-limiting beliefs? And what bold value statements can you replace them with?
